A newly discovered dinosaur species, named "Tanyka amnicola", has left scientists scratching their heads. This ancient creature, which roamed the Earth around 275 million years ago, had a jaw structure so unusual that researchers initially believed it to be deformed. But here's where it gets controversial... After discovering eight additional specimens with identical jaw structures, the team realized this was the creature's natural look. This gurning sea creature, which inhabited modern-day Brazil, had a lower jaw that twisted, causing its teeth to project outwards to either side instead of pointing upward. This unique feature meant it had to eat in an unusual way, grinding its food against its teeth rather than chewing it conventionally. The portion of the jawbone that would typically face the tongue in humans instead pointed towards the roof of the mouth in Tanyka. This discovery raises questions about the diversity of prehistoric life and the potential for more unusual species to be uncovered. And this is the part most people miss... The creature's overall appearance presents the greatest mystery, as only jaw fossils have been recovered thus far. Researchers estimate the animal may have reached lengths of up to three feet and likely dwelt in freshwater lakes. When the animal roamed the Earth, the planet was experiencing a hot "greenhouse revival", enabling a surge in marine life. Sea temperatures were around 25C on average, with oceans in tropical areas rising to 42C. So, what do you think?
